About Us
The Yellowknife Ravens Basketball Club was founded in 2024 through the unification of two established programs: the U18 Spartans and the Futures Basketball Youth Program. Both programs had long histories of training and mentoring youth male athletes in Yellowknife, and together, they created a stronger and more sustainable pathway for player development.
Our Origins
The merger of the Spartans and Futures reflected a shared vision: to bring the basketball community together and provide greater opportunities for young male athletes. By combining coaching expertise, resources, and experience, the Ravens emerged as a program dedicated to guiding athletes from early development stages through to high-level competition.
Our Mission
We are committed to:
-
Delivering high-quality training for youth male athletes in Yellowknife.
-
Developing players’ skills while teaching teamwork, discipline, accountability, and sportsmanship.
-
Creating clear pathways for athletes to compete at the regional, national, and collegiate levels.
-
Building a strong and lasting basketball culture in the Northwest Territories.
Our Identity
The Raven was chosen as a symbol to connect the club to both Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories, where the bird holds cultural and environmental significance. At the same time, the name pays tribute to the Carleton Ravens, Canada’s most dominant University basketball program. Their legacy of excellence, discipline, and success serves as inspiration for the standard we aim to build for athletes in the North.
Our Impact
Ravens athletes continue to represent Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories with pride at tournaments and national championships. Beyond competition, the program emphasizes mentorship, leadership, and community, helping players grow into confident athletes and well-rounded young men.
The Yellowknife Ravens Basketball Club is more than a team—it is a united community built to inspire, challenge, and support youth male athletes as they pursue excellence in sport and in life.
